The thrust should almost always carry the weight of the antenna(s) and 
mast(s). All of my personal towers have been crank-ups and all have 
carried the weight. My rotator is there to handle turning and wind 
loading (Torque). As an added bonus, when I had to replace the rotator, 
it was a snap.
