[TowerTalk] Do you have copper?

At Farinon Electric, we sold many links of 18GHz microwave to India's Eastern railway. They could not keep the switch controls and telemetry between stations in service, because the copper telephone lines between the stations disappeared as soon as the sun went down!

Around the year 2000, I worked on a project to bring cellular phone service to Haiti. Each of our rural cell sites was surrounded by a poured concrete wall. This wall also included a 2-room guard shelter. A guard, along with his scatter gun, was at each shelter to protect against theft of the copper ground mat under the cell tower, and the diesel fuel that ran our 100% duty cycle generators.
