PTT conection

I was trying the PTT conection with no luck.
I made a circuit like for the keyer.
Paralel port. The ground is the same than the keyer.
Pin 16 to the 1K resistor and the resistor to the base of a 2N2222A.
Pin  1 to the emiter.
And the colector connected to the PTT in the transceiver (TS-850).
Is this OK ?.  Because after I did it I found there 4 Volts in the colector
while I don't transmit (????). And 0 Volts when I transmit.
