Parallel port CW

I am trying to use the LPT1 parallel port with the circuit described in the
manual including a 2N3904 transistor and a 1 kohm resistor to key my
Kenwood TS850 transmitter. The radio is keyed when the computer is turned
on until the CT program starts up but otherwise works ok.

However, nothing happens when the TR program starts up! I have defined the
appropriate settings in the logcfg.dat file.  The Any suggestions?
