Tabbing back to the callsign window to correct a call is a real
pain. If you were to accept callsign info in the exchange window, there
would be no need for ANY entry in the callsign window. 

You can enter the callsign in the exchange field.  CTLR-J and change the
setting for Callsign update Enable=True.  

>From experience, using any logging software the first time is always a
messy experience. Give TR a chance and I think you will change your
mind.  I find it absolutely great.  

I have also found that you need to be able to type with more than 2
fingers is a must.  

Another note on entering stuff in the exchange window, a lot of people
think they have to backspace to the front of the exchage to enter the #.
You don't just enter it where the cursor is at.  The only problems I
have seen are with names and QTH.  I always try to enter the name and
then QTH.

Sprint is a tough contest without a computer!
