I had several problems with TR-Log in the NAQP's, CQ160, and
Sprint contests. All of these problems occurred in the CW Sprint,
so we'll just focus on that contest.

Environment:

133MHz 486 16 MB RAM (Same computer for 2+ years now...)
DOS 7.0 (Native Win95 DOS, *not* under a Win95 DOS shell. Same for 2+ yrs nw)
TR-Log 6.18
IC-761
IC-765
LOGCFG.DAT is attached.

Here are the problems I'm having.

- The program goes "dead" until it receives a frequency from the
radio. This means it won't call CQ or anything. Dead.

- This happens quite often. When the problem occurs, "NONSSB" is
displayed where I usually see "40CW" or the equivalent. *Nothing*
works until TR reads a frequency from the radio, which takes anywhere
from 1 to 4 seconds. Sometimes, odd frequencies are displayed while
I wait for it to "recover." This waiting *really* screws up my rhythm,
  especially in the Sprint.

- If "AUTO S&P ENABLE" is turned on, the program will not only go
dead, but will jump into S&P when it "comes back to life." This
"feature" is particularly frustrating when someone answers the CQ
it made right before going dead.

- I often could not get out of S&P no matter what I did. I finally
learned that waiting several seconds for TR to "read the radio"
allowed me to return to CQ mode. Again, more *waiting* for the
  program to "unhang."

- The CW speed varies quite a lot when in the looping mode. The
speed displayed on screen does not equate to actual sending speed.
In addition, the "listen time" parameter is not accurate, and
also varies for no apparent reason. The combination makes the
looping CQ mode much less effective.

I consider the above critical problems that are actually having a real
impact on my scores. They are ruining my rhythm and causing lots
of unnecessary waiting. There are other changes I'd like to see made,
but they fall into the category of "enhancements." The items listed
above are serious problems that need to be corrected.

Hopefully the solution will be something simple like adjusting the
ICOM COMMAND PAUSE or ICOM RESPONSE TIMEOUT. Any suggestions for the
correct values for the IC-765 and the IC-761? Any auggestions at all
for any of these problems?

Any help much appreciated.
