Chris,

As your "competitor", I'd tell you to just use the 756 as-is, without the
serial interface, hi.

As a "friend", I'd recommend sticking with the 870 instead of the 756!

I've had a 756, and interfaced it to TR. I used a dual op-amp, something you
should have laying around the shack. The circuit is posted to

http://www.jps.net/k6xx/icbsciv.htm

Use Figure 2. It'll take a few hours to build. Make sure both the radio
(hex) and TR-Log (decimal) addresses are identical. Doesn't really matter
what address you use, as long as they represent the same number.

The keying interface is identical to that of the Kenwood. Use your existing
cable.

Subject: [TRLog] TR & IC756

Hi all,

I will be travelling to another station (w0lsd) to operate ARRL CW DX.
The rig there is an IC-756 and is not computer controlled. I'm bringing
a laptop and I want to make sure I have the appropriate cables.

My home setup is a TS-870 and I key the rig using the parallel port
(positive keying using/2n2222 with collector going to key jack) and use
a db-9 serial port cable for data communiation with the rig. From my
conversations with Ken (the owner) it doesn't sound like the 756 has a
db-9 type serial port connector on the back but some other type.

Any 756 owners that can help me out? Any special TR setup tricks I
should know about?

thanks es 73's,

chris, n4vi
