Phil,

Here is what I use here:

PACKET PORT = SERIAL 2 (OR WHATEVER YOU ARE USING)
PACKET BAUD RATE = 2400
PACKET BAND SPOTS = FALSE
PACKET BEEP = FALSE
PACKET SPOTS = MULT
EIGHT BIT PACKET PORT = TRUE

(NOTE --  PUT "ECHO ON" BEFORE CONNECTING)
 ( NOTE -- CTRL-C = CMD PROMPT  -- When in packet window)
