[TRLog] AA contest email submissions and TRlog

The JARL certainly likes making things difficult!

In previous years, they rejected logs that weren't prepared on
Japanese-sized paper. I couldn't figure out why my entries were ignored
until I was finally told of this "policy". (What ever happened to my IRCs
sent for a copy of the results, also!)

My eight year 'boycott' of this contest ended this year when they announced
they would accept electronic submissions. Guess that decision was premature.

This is the sort of message that comes back to you if you send your log to
aacw@jarl.or.jp

* This is an auto reply. *

* Your mail has NOT been accepted. *

Your error number is: EM2000-01618

[Contents of the errors]
* Your mail has no summary sheet.
* Your mail has no log sheet.
(See http://www.jarl.com/contest/english/aaelog.htm)

Now if you check the above page you will learn that in order to simplify the
processing of email logs contest sponsors decided to impose pretty tough
requirements. All the submission should be contained in the body of the
message and all the relevant parts of the submission should be separated by
tags pretty similar to HTML language. This makes the preparation of the
submission pretty difficult and messy. The computer will reject your
submission if it does not comply with the guide lines on the above page.
I wonder if there is a possibility to compose the log of that type
automatically either inside the POST utility or as a third party program. I
feel really spoiled by the use of TR and did not get used to spending too
much time on making the final log for submission since I have started to use
TRlog. I understand that similar format is used for internal JA contests. Do
we have any JA subscribers who can clear that up and let us know if the
proper converting utility exists? Or am I making the noise over nothing?
