Simple.  Follow these steps (from a DOS prompt):

1. Start up DEBUG.
2. type "d 40:0" (without the quotes).

The first line of numbers are the addresses assigned to the four
COM ports and the LPT ports.  This is the same data displayed by
TR if you type TR PORTS.  

The BIOS sets these up during boot and they seem to be the best place
to get your I/O addresses from.
