Hi Rod -- Try it in a DOS window. I run SBDVP that way and it works fine,
but I can't get the sound card to work starting from the DOS prompt, even
though I think I'm doing all the proper initializations. Only difference
is that the TSR says it has initialized the card...

Don't forget that the SBDVP doesn't write the sound files until you unload
the TSR. Also, the software doesn't seem to write SBDVPCFG.DAT, a file
that lists the filenames to be loaded at start-up (without paths). You
apparently have to write that file manually based on the list of .DVP
files. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but that's what happened when I
did it. Kind of a PITA, but once you do that it all works fine.

Incidentally, the sound files are stored in the directory you're logged
onto, even though you have a separate directory for SBDVP and have it in
the PATH statement. So they'll wind up in your contest-specific directory,
and that's where your SBDVPCFG.DAT should be too.
