Hi Pete,

As you mentioned, I also do not run TR from the DOS window in Windows.

Rather, I boot up TR from a DOS disk, and found the program to work
perfectly, except for control of the IC-765. Booting up from a disk is an
easy way to customize the config.sys and autoexec.bat file. In contrast to
CT, TR seems to require that EMM386 and HIMEM.SYS devices be installed.
Since I am also running a DVP, I also install a RAMDRIVE. The DVP, by the
way, peforms flawlessly.

My computer is an AMD 266 with 128 meg RAM running Windows 98 SE. I keep my
DOS programs on a separate small slave drive which is configured with FAT16
partitions. Again, no problems running either CT or TR.

The ICOM radio control is a separate problem. I have spent endless hours
adjusting the two ICOM parameters in TR, but have not really gotten anywhere.

The radio will QSY with no problem. Since I mostly CW contest, I can live
with the flaky split function performance, but I really have a problem with
the program changing my filter settings! The QSY operation with the shift
keys would really be a nice feature, but I can live without that.

The IC-765 is a great, relatively inexpensive contesting radio which is
superb on CW.

Since radio control of the 765 in CT is flawless, my belief is that this is a
software issue with TR. There are enough contest operators who use the 765
to warrant a further look.

Thanks for your help,
Geo K2ONP
