Actually the 1x1 and 2x1 calls are pretty indistinctive ( just like the US 
2x1 analogues). There is no doubt in my mind that 1x2 and 2x2s would be much 
better, but of course all those except the (G) 0, 1, 7 and 9 series  *were* 
issued , *were* issued, and unlike the US it is not UK policy to reissue , 
unless to a descendant. That said of course, issuance of the M series in 1x2 
or 2x2 format from 0 to 9 would release a sizeable block, ditto the 2 
series, so perhaps there is mileage there.

A more creative idea perhaps, would be to consider allocating vanity calls ( 
not necessarily contest calls) to existing A class licencees, so that they 
get something out of the recent round of licence initiatives. Am I wrong, or 
is it only the class A licencees that got nothing from this?
