Station Description: TS570D + PA (Main station), FT920 + modified MLA2500
Antenna(s): Force 12 4CXL at 17m, 80/40m dipoles plus 14AVQ for mult station
Operators: GW5NF, GW4JBQ and G4VXE
Wonderful Support & Hospitality: Sue and Melanie Ward (GW5NF) - thanks!
Remarks: We wanted to dry run the station for CQWW RTTY next month. Writelog
performed well in the networked environment although there was some
difficulty with the assignment of serial numbers between the two terminals.
The log, thankfully, records what was sent, rather than what should have
been sent! We use WL with MMTTY and one of the positions (the run station)
had an issue with MMTTY locking up every now and again. Not a serious issue,
but something to try and resolve if possible. Any one else see that? It
could have been RF, but I am not convinced.
Having the dedicated mult station added interest and meant that we found 40
more mults than last year. We still missed some easy ones :-( The vertical
worked surprisingly well - you should have seen GW5NF's face when he worked
KH6 on 15 for a mult! We plan to augment the mult station with a small beam
for CQWW.
The last few hours were really slow and we did a lot of S&P in the last hour
or so, just to try and keep some QSOs flowing. We all enjoy this contest,
because the different operating sessions - with periods in between - mean
there is no need to kill yourself!
Thanks to all the UK stations that called in - you were nearly all mults! We
moved M5EET on a couple of bands on Sunday, such was our concern with low
numbers of UK stations.
See you all in CQ WW RTTY from MW2I.

Tim, Roger and Julian
