Hi Stephen

Sorry to hear of your experience. Our group operate from both public and private sites and we've had a few visitors.

We always have with us a letter of permission, licence validation certificate, and proof of ARIS insurance (£2m public liability). 
I think you get the ARIS insurance automatically if you operate with the club call of an RSGB affiliated society.

We once had a request to attach brightly coloured tape to our guys to prevent people walking into them.
You're welcome to join us for some hf qro fun next year if you don't mind a drive up the M11.

We've used council-owned land in the past. Permission wasn't a problem, but
they required evidence of public liability insurance - an ARIS policy
provided this.

(Not a bad thing to have in any case)
