Hello again Ian et al
Decided to be a bit more scientific here - these timings are measured using
a Tektronix 7704A oscilloscope, on an FT-1000MP (June 1997)
Serial no. 6F100185 (I use the 'Band-data' pin 2 to switch the external
P.A. via a switching transistor, but this was not used for these tests)
Front panel 'BK-IN' button pressed. Rear panel LIN.AMP slide-switch 'off'
On RX, CW keying line = +4.4 V, rear panel 'Band-data' DIN socket
Pin 2 (TX GND) = +13.8 V. (Both lines go to 0 V when key closed)
>1. Delay from first key-down to appearance of the fastest PTT output on
>the rear panel.
Key-down to Band-data Pin 2 => 0 V, = 0.4 ms
>2. Delay from first key-down to first appearance of RF output.
Key-down to 1st RF output, = 10 ms (this is with menu 7.4 set to '0'
i.e. minimum software delay in RF output. With menu 7.4 set to '10',
time delay = 13 ms)
>3. With key locked down, but also a DIN plug in the BAND DATA socket to
>activate the TX ENABLE line... delay from grounding the TX ENABLE line
>to first appearance of RF output.
Not able to test this. I think by TX ENABLE you mean what Yaesu call
TX INHIBIT (Band-data DIN skt. Pin 8)
>4. Delay between key-up and end of RF output.
= 5 ms
All above timings are the same with either full break-in (BK-IN button
pressed)
or semi break-in (VOX button pressed but BK-IN button not pressed)
With semi-break in, however, menu 7.5 comes into effect and holds the TX
on after the key is released for the chosen time-delay.
Hope this helps !
