Not really a reply to the subject as given, but associated comments - I am
sure these will have been discussed in the past.
You are probably aware that ARRL is considering dropping the contest
results pages from QST and having the information available only on the web.
They are in fact discussing this this very week. I would be surprised if RSGB
are not considering a similar step.
I am all in favour of having contest results available on the internet, and the
early availability of scores is an obvious advantage. However I feel not
printing results and write-ups in the hard copy magazines is not in our
interest. It helps in a big way to publicise contests to the larger amateur
community who would not bother to visit the information on the web. I find
myself interested in some of the USA contests which have little interest over
here (eg their field day) I would be unlikely to come across this information
by chance while browsing the web - when I go to the ARRL site I usually have
a specific reason and am not going to dig down on the chance of finding
something else. But as I read QST they certainly do get noticed.
I would therefore encourage all organisations to continue to publish results in
their results in their magazines.
