[UK-CONTEST] NFD BBQ & Beer!

Our group nearly always does this - we have many people in our small
group (Harwich Amateur Radio Interest Group - HARIG) who are neither
particularly interested in contest operating nor cw in particular and on
the Saturday night of NFD we hold a social with BBQ and separate tent
etc. for chatting. It has been very successful in attracting those
members who we would otherwise not see at such an event. I can
recommend it! It has also stimulated some interest in contesting in
the past from newcomers. Some decide to be dropped off (rather than
driving) and stay the night enjoying a few drinks too. This is good
for boosting numbers of night shift operators/helpers!

We may be a small group and not all that often competitive but we have a
good time, enjoy ourselves and regularly get more than 70% of members at
our meetings and events.
