I have to confess I hadn't spotted the link between packet cluster and
multi-op. I now notice that I can't think of any multi-op contest rules that
include an unassisted section. So in this respect, it's a fair cop! Setting
traditions aside however, what's stopping the rules being changed for the
restricted section, or at least having an unassisted category in the
restricted section? After all, there's the open section for those of us who
like setting up elaborate stations.

I sympathise with this view. I guess it depends on how many ops you can
muster. At present we're down to three, which is the minimum possible to be
able to spot 100% of the time and get any sleep (wimps I hear you say!). I
wonder if there would be any more entries if a competitive station could be
realised by 2 ops (or even 1 op) using a bog standard 100W transceiver to a
G5RV, say. Yes, yes, I know this contest is aimed at clubs, but I did
consider doing just this before hooking up with my present cohorts.
