Although in recent years the number of paper logs has dropped
enormously, we must be well aware that, certainly among the older
amateur community, there are still those who do not have (or do not
want to use) computers. It would be wrong to make it impossible for
these stations to enter contests when at the same time we should be
encouraging new entrants to contests.
Maybe in next years rules it should state that electronic logs is the
preferred route and is to be used whenever possible. It could also
be stated that the long term intention of the contest committee is to
drop accepting paper logs, but I feel it is too early to ban them
yet.
I was not on in SSB Field Day (I am a CW only op), but the big aurora
on Saturday evening produced superb auroral tones on 5MHz signals! I
am not surprised you had a struggle with the hf bands!
