ARRL 10-Meter Contest

Call: G3TXF
Class: Single Op [no packet] CW-only HP
QTH: North Devon
Operating Time : 26 hours [14 on Sat, 12 on Sun]

CW : 923 QSOs, 75 countries 43 states/provs = 118 mults

Claimed Score = 436,128 pts

Worked 500 Q's on first day and 423 on second. On both Saturday and
Sunday the majority of US stations were worked with the antenna
pointing to South America. Signals were usually better on this skew
path than they were direct.

Worked only one W6 in CA (K6AM) and no W7's worked at all. Nothing
heard from Japan. The furthest DX to the east was VI8NT and the
further to the south-west was CE3BFZ.

Although everything went flat pretty much within an hour of sunset
[1610z] on the Saturday, there was a strange further opening to the US
and the Caribbean from about 1915 to 2030z on the Saturday. Signals
were weak, but they were 'direct'. The same opening didn't happen on
the Sunday.

Let's face it. We were spoilt by the HF Conditions during both CQWW
SSB and CQWW CW this year. Conditions got there own back on us during
the ARRL 10m Contest (SFI=78, k=4), although 10m has, of course, got
to get an awful lot worse before it gets better again.

Bye bye 10 metres .... see you again during the next sunspot cycle!

The antenna [4el 10m monoband yagi at 75ft] was installed specifically
for the contest.

Station FT1k-MP and Quadra amp.
