Work and other stuff prevented a full bore effort from the main station as
M6T.
Planned to just operate a little from the tiny station at home when I was
available, and to do some other stuff to get some station re-building
completed.
As ever, enjoyed myself too much and got sucked in a little more than I
planned
and operated about 8 hours on and off - not always 100% concentrating.
Without
the SO2R option, I took to SO1R-Contest Adjudication - sorting out some
domestic
contest adjudication while calling folks..... Also still have 2 rotators in
pieces on the kitchen table and another one in the boot of the car..... So
that job didn't get finished either!
Conditions Saturday daytime seemed much poorer than last year and the low
bands
Saturday night seemed very poor - real head-banging stuff with the tiny
station.
A good bit better Sunday. Even managed to catch VE1ZZ right at the end on
160 - which is amazing when you see this antenna!
This is a great contest for small stations in the UK to play in - lots of
relatively easy stations to work with a multiplier scheme which is effective
enough even with a small station. If we're talking about contests which
could form the basis of a contest within a contest structure, this (and it's
SSB counterpart) could well be one good candidate. We already award a trophy
to the UK winner of this event - so that level of things is sorted. There
could also be some award for leading 100W, restricted antenna entry - and
for multi-ops - certificates certainly - trophies maybe - but most
importantly, we tabulate the UK results in the UK magazine and run it as a
element of any overall championships.
Maybe see you all for a proper effort in SSB - not sure yet.
Andy
