This is interesting - I have just checked 9A0A's summary sheet and there was
nothing on there to give cause for concern as to the number of radios used.
I also learned recently that one of the leading stations in the 2002 contest
(not 9A0A as it happens) was heard with multiple stations running on a
single band.
All I can say is, it's not much use my finding these things out 11 months
after the contest! If any of you have evidence DURING the contest, then make
a record of it and let me know while adjudication is still under way. Or,
even better, phone me during the contest (+44 118 972 4192) and alert me to
such infringements so I can hear them for myself, then I will happily
disqualify the offenders. But without evidence, there isn't very much that
can be done.
I will be putting out reminders about the 2003 contest once IARU is out of
the way, but this year looks like being another great event, with many
island expeditions, and several more trophies to compete for.
Remember, this is meant to be fun!
On another topic, there have been several questions on these reflectors
about handling serial numbers for multi-op in the IOTA contest. This is not
well served by existing contest logging programs. But I have found two
groups who have very effectively dealt with this by writing their own,
server-based systems, where the next available serial is effectively
"requested" fromt he server as required by the run and mult stations. One,
written in C++, is by G4FON for the G5XV team. It comes with a fb training
simulator, and the screen layout is similar to CT to make it as easy as
possible to pick up. The other (can't recall the language used) is by HA1AG
and will be used this year from one of the Croatian islands. As they say,
where there's a will, there's a way!
