[UK-CONTEST] IOTA Logging Advice Please

I like CT but unfortunately I cannot recommend it for IOTA, single op, or
multi op. It seriously wrecked my log in 2001.
I also totally agree with John regarding the use of UTP cables in an amateur
radio environment. I would throw them away and use UR43 or WiFi. My
experience of long runs of UR43 has not always been good though. You need to
make good connections to plugs and sockets, and perhaps bury the cable.
These modern BNC connectors are useless! Do not mix different types of
network cabling on the same network. I found that this too leads to (network
buffering?) problems. By that I mean serial/coax. Unless the different media
happens to be to a radio link, which works if the TNCs are in KISS mode.
Also, if a PC on your network goes into a sleep mode of any kind I would
disable it because the network data will not go through a sleeping PC and
you lose serial nums/QSOs, and you will probably be unaware of the problem
initially.

You might like to investigate N1MM Logger (www.N1MM.com). I used it this
year as a single operator and it worked very well (I
prefer windows based systems).I know it has multi station capability but I
have obviously no experience of that to pass on. The
N1MM reflector is a useful source of information and experiences.
