Just a thought but moving on from the USB/Laptop thread, we had a tiny Micro
ATX Pc at work the other day which sparked a few ideas.
The thing was about a foot square.. Had no internal PSU.. needed a slim or
external CD.. But what I liked was that the PSU was an external AC adaptor
( 12v @ 2.4Amps ).. which plugged into the case.
It had on-board everything ( including 800Mhz CPU ) & RCA/TV out .. Also
there's 1PCI & 2 USB slots so a dual Serial Card or some USB/serial
converters would make a useful number of COM ports.
 I think cases were around £60 & board £90 from Farnel ..
Thought it would make an ideal FD machine. Also I noticed that although my
850 converter/interface for PC control is isolated, connecting my PC to the
TS2000 nearly lit up my eyes.. I suppose the PC could run off the shack PSU
& be tied to the ground rail / common earth with the rest of the shack
equipment..

Just some thoughts..
