My first real attempt at this contest and it was bags of fun!
Due to other commitments, I was only able to spend just over half the four hours
in front of the radio, but I soon learned that the first thing you need to do is
throw away a lot of the skills you use in other contests.
With a marginal contest station, you also have to learn to listen to both sides
of a QSO in case you are not 'top of the pile' when replying to a CQ and need to
call the successful station instead!
I also found it difficult to remember to QSY at least 2KHz, QSY'ing is simple,
but it is all too easy to forget about the 2KHz if you find another station that
you have not worked on an adjacent frequency.
Band QSO's Time on Band
20 43 1:15
40 20 0:30
80 15 0:25
Still, it was great fun and I will be back! It is a good format and might 'level
the playing' field for the current 80m Club Championship.
