Bob, I think it is the Opto coupler thingy, had mine replaced 2 couple of
years ago after a similar problem. Chris G3SJJ

Subject: [UK-CONTEST] FT1000MP Clarifier Problem

Good morning chaps

The clarifier on my 8 year old FT1kMP has started to play up a little. It
causes frequency jumps or alternately no change in frequency when the
control is rotated at all quickly. I know I have seen mention of this kind
of failure in the MP before but a trawl around the web, while revealing
reference to it, reveals no clue about how to approach fixing it.

Is there anyone who has suffered this problem and effected a cure who can
advise me on what is necessary. Return to Yaesu or a dealer for service is
not a great option out here.
