Guys,
It was DK3XY who was taking me to task for operating in the section of 80m
that the IARU Region 1 recommend should not be used for Contests.
I checked the RSGB yearbook for 2004 and it confirms that 3650-3700 is not
recommended for contests (page 90).
DK3XY was so absolutely insistent that this recommendation should be obeyed
without question that I felt churlish about pointing out to him that in
the UK IARU recommendations are considered the basis for discussion!
Has the HFCC missed a trick here? I have E-Mailed Justin to ask if we need
to annoy our continental neighbours by having the rules of this contest
so that they do not comply with the IARU recommendation. After all we only
need 100kHz according to the rules for the 80m CC ssb sessions, so does
3650-3700 have to be included?

>Hi all,
I'm not even going to post my score, I made the foolish decision to
operate qrp (with a genuine 9.9W). Heard a few weak UK stations, two
within a few miles were decent signals the rest were deadly weak. Only
one station responded to my
>Q call the rest I worked S & P, about 8 or
so in total! I gave up after about 30mins and tuned around to see how
just many G's I could hear..........about ten in total! Was it entirely
propagation or lack of interest?
I operated the same power
>n the first CW leg and easily worked 54
stations, and was even able to run stations for a bit. Can I take this
as proof that SSB is dying out? :0)
I heard a German station giving Bob, G3ORY some grief about not working
in the section 3650 to 37
>0 because "it was against the IARU band plans"
the contest rules stated 3650 to 3750 didn't they? What was that about?
Alex
