For what it's worth, here is an account of my effort.

I missed a large part of last year's event, because the XYL went in to
labour that weekend.  A year on, the birthday celebrations together with the
racehorse running at Cheltenham were always going to mean a severely limited
participation in CQ-160.  So the Carolina Windom remained at 30', rather too
low for serious 160m operation.  And I only managed three operating stints,
each of about 45 minutes.  I see that I was spotted during the third one
(late on Sunday evening), which accounted for a decent rate for a short
while.  Worked A6 for a new one.  VY2ZM called me, for my only Stateside
contact.  I was not on the band at the right time for working W/VE, which
only demonstrates how strong VY2ZM is over here - a genuine 599, when others
over there were not even audible.

I agree about the apparent low participation from the UK.  DLs and OKs were
in plentiful supply.  No change there then.
