Hello all,
Although the call was a bit difficult to get over sometimes in S&P I had
little choice in the use of the long call due to the way licencing works now
in Cyprus, but at least it was unmistakable.
I am indebted to Bob and Karen, for their hospitality and generosity. I had
a great time, on and off the radio.
Naturally the gods contrived to ruin conditions, but I think Cyprus was a
better place than most to be. When 40m went TOTALLY dead on Sunday morning,
I slept for 45 mins - I refuelled when the safety car came out! 10m had a
little sporadic E stuff on Sunday morning. My mistakes were starting on 20m,
not 15m, not pulling mults to other bands right at the start of the contest,
and being mesmerised by the eye-watering pile-up that went on all 24 hours.
Working UK stations on 80m was quite difficult.
I liked the TenTec Orions, which were bomb-proof on 40m, and very easy to
use. You don't need the manual to use the menus. I hadn't used Writelog in
anger before, so I didn't know how to do some things that would have helped
me. Very pleased to work lots of M3's, and thanks to everyone else who
called.
