The only solution we have found at G5XV is to write our logging software own to
cope with the serial number problem. The outcome is a full multi-user
application with one PC on the LAN dedicated to keeping the serial numbers and
allocates them as required.

I might add that getting the serial number allocation software right has been an
interesting challenge.
