[UK-CONTEST] QRS Etc

<LARGE GRIN>

Great suggestions Andy, in particular the pts/Km option.

What about extending this idea to 80m AFS as well (yes, that old chestnut)?
The (proposed) new format would negate any changes to the start/finish
times, it would appease us "grumbling Celts" since our lower QSO totals (as
calculated by a very learned fellow contester) would at least now have a
higher points/QSO ratio, and the Mid-Shires urban number crunchers will
still exceed their customary 300 QSO's.

The optimum calculated location for success in this contest would of course
need to be moved to a more remote outpost of the U.K. The far north of
Scotland, or maybe even the Hebrides/Orkney's/Shetlands, for example, would
be a good choice. Previous factors including event experience, station
ergonomics, superior operating skills, antenna take off angle etc, ground
reflection etc would need to be re-assesed as well of course.

Neither option would likely favour our location, but at least the contest
exchange would be more interesting ;-)

While its one point per qso there's no incentive to spend time
searching out weaker and slower stations, you people down in middle
England can get all you need by working each other at 100 over 9.

How about adding a multiplier into the contest, aka vhf, say a
multiplier for locator squares and countries or even prefixes? Or/And
something like one point per kilometre for the actual scoring. This
would make the contest far more strategic so that the big boys who just
sit on one frequency working all who come will have a really good reason
to search around for that elusive multiplier.

Cheers
Andy
