Curious comment, Ray.
Can only speak from my side - but the amp (TL922) was firmly off. Never
really had chance to take in the S meter too much
Boy; was I tempted to put it on to create a bigger hole in the band......!!!

The problem with offering different power levels in a contest is that for
some
contesters the desire to win outstrips their desire to remain within the
rules
and it seems to me that there is little you can do about it.
Last night's 80m contest was a prime example, it might surprise some people
to
learn that the contest has two sections 100 Watts and 10 Watts. That does
not
mean 'over 100 Watts' and 'over 10 Watts, but less than 100 Watts', which
seemed
to be the liberal interpretation.
