Hi fellers - hope you enjoyed the cw ww contest.
We at HS72B struggled a bit with various problems. Some may not know that Ray G3NOM who was organising the station for RAST suffered a stroke / heart attack one week prior to the contest and has he had all the knowlege, plans etc in his keeping we did struggle somewhat to organise the station as no other person here had any info. Anyway we made it even though the top band antenna was not completed until Sunday evening local time.
Raw score is just over 8M pts, so wa aint going to brrak any records in the m/m xsction. We had only 3 / 4 ops plus some part time help,. So like anytime it is a case of "if only"
For the next 7/10 days the operation is now focused on the warc bands and the low bands, so we shall do our best to fill those band sts.
80/ 160 plus warc not licensed in HS and this special concession expires at the the year end.
The top band antenna seems promising, it is a 50 mtr plus vertical held aloft by a balloon. We made just over 100 qso'slast night, someone commented that our 160 sigs were like a bc station, but of course bc stns only transmit and we have the equatorial receiving problems which we hope to address with a couple of K9AY loops and some low slung wires.
News of Ray is not good. He suffered starvation of oxygen to the brain, he is still in a coma and the prognosis is not good, so please spare some thoughts and wishes for his welfare.
Apologies for any typo's or other errors - I have lost my reading glasses and the type on this hotel monitor is tiny.
73 Brian.
