Hi all from the sunny south,
Took Friday afternoon to "get ready" - so had Murphy!
The quarter wave GP, bent over at the top, with 2 elevated radials went
up okay although far too low. It is, however only 1 wavelength from the
sea (grin). That's assuming the tide is "in" - we have a 10mtr rise &
fall in GU.
The first problem was when SD (Ver 11.05) keyed (via LPT1) at 1wpm
instead of 30wpm (I hadn't checked this since upgrading to XP pro).
Task manager says the CPU runs at 100% when keying. Cure still to be
found.
I downloaded CT which was fine except for a lousy Mark - Space ratio,
apologies for sounding like UB5 with a manual bug.
Like some I had an ever growing list of family/domestic commitments.
The 3 hours of "uninterrupted" operating time produced:-
318Q's 12 Zones 53 Countries 23790 points.
North America big guns were "unusually" weak (below s9).
Rate notably dropped after being spotted due to my replies being covered
up by my own pileup!
Working split helped but my conscience tells me it's a little unethical
as you end up using two frequencies, what do others think?
IC765, L4B & CTwin 10.something, not assisted (except by Murphy)
Next year:- better preparation, more antennas, more time.
To Ian G4IIY, suggest your new shack has a strong lock with an
electrified door knob ;-)

PS. Bonne chance Chris (JJ)
