An excellent turnout from G in last week's Eu Phone Sprint. The CW
sprint takes place today 1500-1859z on 20, 40 and 80. Activity is mainly
on 20 for the first hour, 40m during the middle and most of the last
hour is on 80m
The key point is that after CQing and making a contact you must move at
least 2kHz before making your next CQ. Both callsigns must be sent as
part of the exchange, as well as serial number an name (RST not
required). The format of the exchange indicates to anyone else that is
listening whether you were the CQer (who must QSY) or the caller, who
typically stays on the frequency. If you send your call at the END of
the exchange it indicates you are listening on the frequency for another
call.
The contest rule says you must send both calls; the format of the
exchange is simply a convention that grew up in the first few years of
the NA sprints and it really helps if you can follow the convention.
Here's an example.
CQ CQ G4BUO G4BUO TEST I call CQ
I2UIY I'm called by I2UIY
I2UIY G4BUO 27 DAVE I give his call, my call, number and name
