I wonder if some of the RTTY experts could offer some advice, please?
I have little experience of RTTY and have only used it during CC80 sessions;
in fact I didn't have an interface until I built one especially for CC80
Data sessions.
How do you cope with more than one station calling you? When operating CW
(or SSB) it is pretty easy to pick out one or more letters of a callsign and
then make it clear which individual station you are working and you get the
full callsign back.
Several times last night several stations replied at once to my CQ calls and
the software (MMTTY within Logger32) couldn't identify (to me) any part of a
call sign. So I call QRZ and the same set of stations call again and still
with the same result of being unable to sort out any call sign.
This sequence of events continues with no QSO's resulting until several of
the calling stations give up and go elsewhere and with any luck one station
remains and I can copy his call sign.
This is time-wasting and frustrating for all concerned and I suspect much of
it is due to my and others lack of experience of RTTY.
So come on you expert RTTY-ers give us the benefit of your experience!
