Hi
Well we went up the hills in the Peak District, for this mornings 50MHz
contest. 35 QSO's best DX was down Poole way / North West Scotland. Nothing
exciting, DX wise. Ran 100 W from a 756PROII into 5 Ele Tonna which caused
us feed / match problems early on. We wasted 20 minutes re-arranging the
feed to drop the SWR. We also got hammered by the Buxton Beacon on 50MHz,
which was +60dB (IO93BF) which was as wide as a barn door with us. Well we
where next door to it in IO93AF !(Who picked that site ???) Better planning
next time !
After the contest we learned not to leave the ignition turned on in a
Discovery. We ended up with a flat battery. The jump leads we had were those
cheap and nasty ones, with 1mm cable. We repleced that with, wait for it,
two spare lengths of RG213 we had. Engine started first time !
All in all a jolly day out.
