[UK-CONTEST] Run Freq on 40m

Hi All,

Been following the Orion vs MP thread with interest as it is exactly what I
had to decide when I returned to the air recently.
My own feeling mirrors that of John LZQ - the MP is better for DXing, the
Orion for the serious contest station.
The split facility of the MP clinches it for me if you work DXpedition
pile-ups frequently. The split is easy to understand and to implement.
I chose the MkV MP for two reasons:
1) Lynch were selling their demonstrator fully loaded with filters at a
bargain basement price when they changed QTH.
2) The Orion feels cheaply put together - very British Leyland circa
seventies (OK I know the M0 youngsters won't know what I'm on about).
Tactile quality I feel is an overlooked feature of amateur radio equipment.
Yaesu get this right, and I think my old Ten Tec Omni VI was better built
than the Orion.
I suppose if you have the money you buy both, though after listening to my
30-year-old old Drake line, which Chris SJJ is renovating, I wonder if
things have improved at all in CW reception in the intervening years.
Was anyone using the new Yaesu FTDX 9000 in CQWW? Would be interesting to
hear how it fared
Congrats to the G6PZ team on a wonderful score.
