Caveat: I am not a techie.

However, if this is a sharp cut off-i.e. OK below 3Mhz say-, then it is
quite likely to be one of the filter assemblies in the RF section. Do you
perhaps do SO2R and not have any protective filtering/stubs? This is exactly
what happened to a local station here for the reasons outlined above, albeit
on the 7Mhz+ range. Some of the very small caps. in the assembly had gone
West. It is not a huge job for someone with 3mm fingers(!) and access to the
parts from Yaesu UK.

Anyone had a problem with an FT1000MP, its deaf on the 3 - 4Mhz range,
checked with a signal genny and it aint working very well at all.
