Hi Darren
That was me at the other end of the exchange, it was great getting passes from 160CW, your call was in the entry field a second before you called, hi!
The bi-modal cooperation on 160 between Jan in Cornwall, and us in in Essex worked very well. There were plenty of SSB stations worked by Jan, who we just couldn't hear in Essex. Likewise we worked some CW stations from Essex. It worked well because of the good geographical separation, and with better antennas and power, we were able to be in direct radio contact with each other.
It was apparent this year that we were on the receiving end of a lot of passes, in return we spent a lot of time handing out the QRG of the other stations and encouraging lots of folk to "have a go".
Special mention needs to be made of Chris SVL & Dave UEG, these guys are particularly erudite operators, Chris is even skilled in motivating participants of Sunday morning nets to work other slots!
Congrats to John WGV for Starlog, we're all fans now, impressed with that upissue half way through the contest!
