[UK-CONTEST] Developing NFD

Could I add my 2 penny worth of support for
internationally integrating NFD from across the pond?
It would be really wonderful if the NA and European
field days could be combined, but that seems extremely
unlikely to happen, and the US event is quite
different - and quite boring. Not so many years ago,
it would have been possible for me to enter the RSGB
NFD as a Commonwealth portable - and to have been
worth 12 points a shot! Not so many years ago, it was
a perfectly reasonable strategy to run US stations on
the high bands as a way to a high score. I would be
surprised these days if any station has more than 100
NA in the log - the activity is just not there (or
rather here!).

It seems to me that an IARU Region 1 Field Day should
be quite practicable, along the line suggested by
others. If there were to be a section for stations
outside Region 1 (fixed or portable), I am sure there
would be much more interest from over here.
