What a civilised contest!
As commented in previous posts, more skill required than the usual "machine
gun" CQing and poor operating associated with some of the global contests.
On my part, a very casual effort. Only managed just over 30 QSOs in 2 hours
on Saturday evening. Most of the weekend taken up with work, domestic
chores, other family commitments, oh and the flu. My main aim was to check
out some new toys ready for some /P operating over the summer.
Either they worked better than I was expecting or conditions on 40 / 80 were
fairly good from this southern location!
Looking forward to the next contest I can shoehorn into the busy schedule.
Details of my PANTS (Poor Antenna Not Terrific Signal) station:
FT897D, 20 watts running from internal batteries
MFJ 993 tuner
66' inverted L (highest point 8m), 3 radials
High points:
Bagging some more elusive Canadian provinces and some new 80 "entities".
Equipment / conditions exceeding expectations.
Low points:
Not being able to operate for anywhere near long enough
Running a temperature of 101 for most of the weekend.
73 & see you next contest
