This was the first of these events I managed to get on for, or if truthful, remembered in time! But only just; although I was prepared with a crib sheet of previous entrants, assembled courtesy of excel into some sort of logical order and colour coded for easy reference, I reached the shack in the pouring rain to find no log sheets and so a certain amount of hit and miss was involved in deciding what number to send next. Although the last serial out was 105, SD informed me afterwards that this was actually QSO number 113 and no dupes, rather a nice surprise. Some people will therefore have got the same number from me, for which apologies, but the log reflects what was actually sent, so no-one should lose points.
With no time to find a frequency I started off S&P, going down the band rather than up, figuring I might have an easier time of it and this seemed to pay off quite well for the first quarter, until a habitable slot presented itself.
We are now well into summer propagation and the northerly signal levels here in Sussex tended to be disappointing, but there were still loads of unworked stations around, all calling others. No time in this event for many strategic CQs though.
TenTec Omni VI+ 100 watts to end fed wire, sloping gently NE down to the shack from its 145 ft skyhook.
Thanks to all for the QSOs.
