[UK-CONTEST] FT990 CAT

I am doing some cabling on G4IIY's FT990 and need some help. I am wiring 
up the FT990 to an FIF 232Cvan serial interface unit. I have a schematic 
and connector pin-outs.

1 - Converting the 25 way serial connector to a 9 way for plugging into 
a computer comms port. I have tried a 25-9 way adapter and gender bender 
which I already had but it isn't very elegant or reliable, so does 
anyone know the connections for a 9 way serial connector?

2 - I have resoldered the 4 way shielded Din to Din cable. Just wanted 
to be sure that the Serial In / Serial Out wires are straight through, 
ie Pin 2 to Pin 2 and Pin 3 to Pin 3. Pin 4 is PTT on both ends so that 
is ok. I am not sure about Pin 5 because on the radio end it says S/PO 
and at the Interface end it says AGC.

I could claim a beer from Ian if I could get it working!
