Hi Dave & list
I read your email with some interest, and my initial thoughts are more
around SSB NFD than CW NFD, nevertheless I think useful. They are:
1. All entrants must be /P (It's a field day after all!)
2. Sections: QRP (5 W or less), Low Power (100W or less) and High Power
(Full limit)
3. The QRP and Low Power Sections must use simple aerials at no more
than 15m high. No Telnet / Packet Cluster (no assistance from any form
of spotting network).
4. The QRP and Low Power Sections can only use one Transmitter one
Receiver (no Big Knob Little Knob / SO2V Type of entries).
5. Single Op entries can only operate for 18 Hours, not 24.
6. ....probably the most contentious....coming within the top 3 of a
section, over a 5 year period, precludes entry into that section for one
year.
I think changes like these will create the following benefits:
1. Encourage newer contesters / smaller teams / clubs to have a
go.Simple setups that either a single op or small club could easily
field (excuse the pun) yet be competitive.
2. Level the playing field for all.
3. Still leave the contest open for the "Big Boys" to play in.
4. Align the UK Amateur Community , such that a European Entry is
possible, without compromising the entrants UK Score.
Just a few thoughts...
