Dear UK-Contest,
I too support the proposed European Field Day (EFD).
We only average about 50 QSOs per hour in NFD. Many more participants are
needed to make it fun again. At present it's only a national event in UK,
DL, HB9, ON, UA. The rest of Europe has no incentive to participate. But
just imagine if there were hundreds more portables in EA, SM, YO, F, HA,
OH, S5, SP etc.

Let's get behind this initiative. NFD is slowly dying over the long term,
many clubs have fewer and fewer operators. This could be just what is
needed to breathe new life into this important institution.
We can work out the details later: categories, height of antennas,
sub-receivers etc. Yes, fixed stations should only work portables; cluster
should be allowed; two scoring systems can be run in parallel and so forth.
But let's move forward positively. It's in our own interest.
I will send my detailed response to G4BUO's posting to HFCC soon.
73 de Roger/G3SXW.
