Dear UK-Contest,
In recent years CQ WorldWide Committee has developed statistical 'norms' for the extent to which Assisted and Unassisted single-operators work a multiplier soon after it appears on the Cluster. This measures the percentage of multipliers that are worked within x minutes of the spot appearing. Norms have been established for each operating-category.
Each year the leading logs in each CQWW operating-category are compared against a data-base of DX-Cluster spots. Most logs fall within the expected range of norms and extreme cases stand out like a sore thumb. These logs are investigated in depth because solid evidence is needed to support any DQ decision.
A huge amount of work by the 40-man (volunteer) Committee goes on behind the scenes. CQ WW is by far the biggest contest and its management-system reflects this. Nothing is perfect but it is perhaps the most thoroughly adjudicated of all contests. 73 de Roger/G3SXW.
