[UK-CONTEST] 80m CC CW G3SJJ

I have not said much on this over the past 12 months I have seen lots of comments about the fact that people say hello by name in "friendly" contests like CC or dont exactly stick to the "approved procedure" and get slapped down for it, 
  I have a few up and coming cw ops at our club and I can honestly say that they have been put off by seeing some of the comments from some of the "big gun cw contest op's" on the reflector. I have to then say dont worry we are a nice crowd really!

  I for one dont give a damn if some one in CC someone say's "Hi John", and will continue to do so myself if its someone I know, if you dont like it then dont work me simple as that.

  I think that the "Elite" factor is coming in far too much into these nice little contests.

  Ah well I have said my stuff and will stand by to get shot down in a hail of bullets

Yes, we want to encourage more participation and yes, we want to 
encourage newer and/or lesser experienced operators, but whatever, it is 
still a competitive event.

But No, I am not, repeat not, lambasting these people. If you have read 
my postings you will see that I go out of my way to make sure I give 
them the necessary support. So in that respect you and others have 
missed the point. I have deliberately not aimed my complaint at 
newer/experienced operators. I did not say who were the culprits and, in 
fact, a number of regular contest entrants sent what I reported. Maybe 
more regular ones than newer ones!

The real problem is, in fact, as Paul indicated a small error in his 
software which in turn causes an unsuspecting user to change the 
accepted way a contest exchange is made. As I and others have pointed 
out, the "Industry Standard" does not normally do this. Paul has already 
said he will address the problem in the manual, I guess then all it 
needs is for users to alter the F Key messages, so really it isn't such 
a great problem but sure is when you are at the end of it several times!!
