[UK-CONTEST] Feeding your dipole?

G'day Folks,

| For EMC, assuming it is feeder radiation, make a multi-turn coil of the
| coax, or fit a humungous quantity of ferrite beads over its outer -
either
| of which will act as a choke at RF frequencies.

The following URL might be of interest:

http://www.k1ttt.net/technote/airbalun.ht

It offers some interesting data on co-axial cable baluns. I use one, 12
turns of RG8 size on four inch sewer pipe at the feed of my 10MHz slightly
elevated vertical. I wouldn't necessarily hang one in the air off a
dipole or beam, they are rather large. A good ferrite core current balun
would possibly be a better option. Elecraft offer a nice unit.

Oh yes, to keep on topic, I do enter the IOTA and BERU contests. The RSGB
21/28MHz is now a dead loss for me given it's only 12 hours and I'm too
far west to stand any chance of a reasonable score.

Regards,

Mike VP8NO
Stanley
